2012's Promises

I'm writing the fourth New Years post for this blog. I just kind of have to gape at that for a second--four years! I started this blog right after Nick and I got married (hence the URL, which I intend to change someday). I started it because I wanted to post pictures of my wedding and little updates to our newlywed life somewhere, so that our families could see if they wanted.

This blog has become a lot more to me. It's the place I go to when I have big news to share, and it makes me feel better about sharing, even though I am aware that it's a possibility no one will read it. This blog is where I found the most support during all of the times my dad was sick, and then when he died. This is where I have gone for the last four years when I needed to wrestle with things outside of my brain.

I've "met" a lot of people through this blog, too, which is pretty amazing. I don't even need to elaborate on that, because you know who you are.

When I welcomed in 2011, I was praying for a good year. A year where things didn't go horribly; truly--I did get that year. But I've learned that everything is temporary. Things were bad, and then they were good. Things were good, and then they were great. Life was hard, and then it was easy. I was depressed, and then I wasn't. I was homeless, and then I had a home. I loved and then I loved even more.

2012 is going to be just as good, if not better. I have the California State Educational Tests for Elementary Educators coming up soon (hopefully this month).  I'm applying to the post-grad credential program on March 1. I'm graduating on May 19. I'm crossing my fingers and toes that I'll get the promotion at work for which I applied (but even if I don't, I still love my job). I'll be crossing several things off of my 30 by 30 list.

I'm expecting great things from you, 2012.

Oh, and if you're into that sort of thing: I'm resolving to eliminate the swear words in my diction. It's time, you know, since I'm trying to get a job working with small children and all.
